Sri Narayan-Sarathy is Senior Principal Scientist and PepsiCo Global R&D Associate Fellow, based in Plano, TX. Sri received her M.Sc. in Chemistry and M.Tech. in Polymer Science & Technology from Indian Institutes of Chennai and Delhi respectively. She got her Ph.D. in Polymer Science & Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Prior to joining PepsiCo in 2010, Sri was Technology Manager/Principal Scientist for a Big Bet Project at Ashland Performance Materials.
Sri’s research interests are in the areas of Materials Science and Chemistry. At Ashland, she had the opportunity to work on different chemistries developing polymers for water treatment, radiation-curable resins, laminating adhesives for packaging and a novel floating tile floor technology resulting in several patents and publications. She started her career at PepsiCo looking at ways to find more value added applications for by-products like oat hulls and orange peels. More recently, she is leveraging her extensive experience with different polymer chemistries to identify and develop bio-based materials for sustainable flexible packaging with good end of life.
Sri has an adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Grain Sciences at Kansas State University since 2015 and was bestowed an additional honor of associate graduate status this year. She is an active member of many industrial working groups in the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and PepsiCo representative for OBIC, an Ohio State University based industrial consortium on bio-based materials. Sri is also is an active leader for many company sponsored out- reach activities.
